Still Here

Hi!

I'm just letting you know that I'm still here, alive and kicking. :)

Good Night! xxx :)

More Submissions

Today I submitted my book to three agents.

They are:

RCW Literary Agency
Watson Little Literary Agency
Caroline Sheldon Literary Agency

I also started writing the sequel to MOTH. I picked up from the end of the first book. The snow storm is still going strong and most of the characters are taking care of their wounds after the epic fight scene. I won't say any more yet.

It's a short one today. There will be more going on next week.
Good Night! xxx :)

My Second Submission

Today I submitted my book to A . M . Heath Literary Agents. I had to submit it through a form online. It was a really cool way to do it because it was different from any other agents website.

Tomorrow I'll start writing the second novel in the series. I have an idea how I'm going to do it. I started the James Patterson Writing Masterclass. I'm so excited for this!

It's a short blog today. I'll keep you posted on everything. Good Night! xxx :)

My First Submission

Today I have rewritten my book's synopsis and cover letter. I put together the first three chapters and sent my first e-mail submission.

I read three articles called How Literary Agents Work, How to Get An Agent and Getting Hooked Out Of The Slush Pile. They were really informative. I also re-read the sections regarding writing a synopsis and covering letter.

I went through a long list of publishers that deal with fantasy and fiction marking them with a purple pen. I did the same thing with a list of agents. After a while, I stopped and decided to submit to an agency called LBA Literary Agency. They represent a seriously well know and well read amount of writers. They seem really cool and I had a good feeling about them.

I'll be submitting to agents all week and blogging about it. It'll be fun to find out what happens.

Good Night! xxx :)

Time Off

For the last few days I've decided to have some time off the internet, for the most part. I'm also trying not to be on my phone in the evenings. It feels so Good!
Tomorrow I'll work on more book stuff and will  fill you in then.
Good Night! xxx :)

My Synopsis

Today I started writing the synopsis for my book. It took me a while to get started. I referred back to the Writers' and Artists yearbook a couple of times. It was fine when I got stuck into it. I took a picture of it as proof.

I have to say that I'm getting very nervous, mainly about pitching. Not the act of doing it. I guess it's the reactions and responses I'll be getting back. Oh well, I'll just dive straight into it.

Writing a Synopsis

Today I went back to work after having about a week off for Christmas and the New Year. I also went to the gym with my friend Alice and we both kicked ass! :)

Afterwards, I sat down with the Writers' and Artists' yearbook 2016 and skimmed through the table of contents. Then I marked the pages that listed UK literary agents and publishers. I read through a chapter called Writing a Synopsis. I found it really helpful and gave some really good tips. It's getting late, so tomorrow I have to write a synopsis. There are other things I've got to do as well but I'll fill you in on them in tomorrow's blog.

Editing Day 20

I really enjoyed editing today. This is the last editing blog. I will be moving onto making a list of agents and publishers that deal with Fantasy books. I'll use the Writers and Artists book. It's really useful.

While editing, I clarified a few things in a couple of plots and made a few changes. The main things I did today were correct or add a few things to certain scenes in the book so they make more sense. I tried to make them close to real life so that they would be relatable.

I can't believe that I wrote a book in 2015. Sometimes when I stop and look at my life, I don't know how I got here. I bought my next notebook for MOTH BOOK 2 and when I opened it, I realised that it was not blank on the inside! I love writing on blank thick pages of a hard back notebook. I feel more inspired writing that way. It doesn't matter, I'll still uses it! Haha! :)

I found this picture and it made me laugh. There was a part of the book where I was editing a car chase scene and a woman on a bike was biking up hill in the rain and sleet.

I also edited part of the book where MOTH was in a lab in Oxford. He has a large tank in the middle of the lab with a blue bulb hanging from it. I found this picture that is close to what I imagined it would look like. Doesn't he look like David Blaine? Maybe he can be in my book! Haha! :)

I'll leave it here for now. I will keep blogging on a daily basis and let you know what's going on and how things are going.
Good Night! xxx :)

Editing Day 19

Today I edited 19 pages. The word count is 74, 742.
I really enjoyed editing today. Tomorrow I'm going to start editing super early so that I can finish it by the end of the day.

I made a few changes that made the story better and more exciting. I'm starting to feel really good about it. I found a picture of this swimming pool that reminded me part of the book where Eva and Daniel go to Valentino's house for dinner. He has a pool on the roof that's similar to this with a sky light over it. It just looks so cool!

One of the changes that I made was when Eva was rear ended when she was sitting in traffic. The car that rear ended her was an Aston Martin, but I already have 2 Aston Martin's in the book, a silver and black DB 4 and 5. I changed it to a black and white Lotus Elise. What a super duper car!

Editing Day 18

Today I edited 10 pages. The word count is 74724. I corrected a few things and proof read it again.

It took me a while to get started but when I did it was fine. I edited part of the book when Eva started connecting with Daniel on a deeper level and Catherine's funeral was coming up. She was told that she wasn't welcome to the funeral by her mother, but Catherine's sister Beth insisted that she come. Eva also connected with Valentino for the first time in the book.

This is also part of the book where I started another plot of a monster similar to MOTH feeding on people in Brighton. Here are a couple of things I've written about it.

"The pavement glistened underneath the lamp post’s light. Shadows lingered around the corner of the pub. It slithered around the unconscious body, feeling around its head for soft spots. It lowered its head and sunk its pincers into the body’s left temple. The poison liquefied the body’s brain and it drank greedily under the ominous clouds."
- First instance of the monster.

"The sea frothed at the pebbles as wave after wave hit the sea front. Loud music blazed from the clubs. A group of women on a hen night staggered outside clutching onto their coats and jackets. One of them walked along the sea as the others hailed a taxi.

In the shadows, something moved lazily. It followed the woman, now vomiting on her shoes and touched her forehead. Green goo dripped from its pincers as it lowered its head to her temple. Her body convulsed as the poison made its way into her brain. It drank hungrily, growing stronger and bigger with every feed. "
- Second instance of the monster.

Can you imagine the monster crawling up to these people, sinking its pincers into their brains and eating them?
